OUR ACTIONS
Aside from the week in/week out distribution of food to families in our city, here are some other activities we've been involved in recently.
FALL & WINTER 2010
We partnered with Springdale Elementary and fed 15 families for Thanksgiving this year.
We partnered with CREOKS Counseling Services to adopt 9 children across 3 families to give them a Christmas like they've never seen.
SUMMER 2010
We helped fund and supply a summer art camp at Remington Elementary.
FALL & WINTER 2009
We delivered 22 Thanksgiving meals to families at the end of November. Thanks to everyone who got involved. You made a difference in the lives of families.
The final tally for our Christmas project: 36 children received gifts, 7 families were fed. Thanks to everyone who helped out.
SUMMER 2009
We provided twelve students with a summer activity pack. An activity pack provided a student with constructive, age appropriate activities (a coloring book and colors, reading-level book, flash cards or educational game, age appropriate toy) to engage in during the summer. The goal of the activity pack was to help the student occupy their time and hopefully keep them out of trouble.
There were nine weekends during the summer when the "Backpack Friday" students and families didn't receive a backpack full of food. The school agreed to keep providing the free breakfast and lunch all summer for anyone who was able to make it to the school but that still left the weekends in question for these students. We provided 10 families with food, once a week, for the full the full nine weeks.
